Flights from India to Thailand

Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang) has direct flights from almost every major Indian city, and Phuket has direct flights from several. Flying time is about 3.5–4.5 hours. Fly into Bangkok and out of Phuket (an "open-jaw" ticket) if you want to see both without backtracking. Mid-week departures and booking 6–8 weeks ahead give the best fares; Diwali, Christmas and summer holidays are the priciest.

Visa and entry costs

None. Indian passport holders are visa-exempt for tourism, with a maximum stay of 30 days since 15 September 2026. You only need to file the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card online. Full details: Thailand visa for Indians.

Phuket + Krabi, 5 nights (honeymoon, mid-range)

3 nights Phuket, 2 nights Krabi in 4-star resorts, Phi Phi speedboat tour, ferry transfer and a candlelit dinner: ₹1.2–1.9 lakh per couple.

Best time to visit Thailand on a budget

November to February is the cool, dry peak season with the highest prices. March to May is hot but still good value. June to October brings the monsoon to the Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi) — rates drop sharply but some boat trips are cancelled in rough seas, so the Gulf islands such as Koh Samui are a better bet in those months.

Frequently asked questions

Can I do Thailand in ₹50,000?
Yes, for 5–6 days if you book flights early, stay in budget hotels in Bangkok and Pattaya or Krabi town, eat street food and choose shared tours. Island resorts and private transfers push the cost higher.
Which is cheaper: Phuket or Bangkok–Pattaya?
Bangkok–Pattaya is cheaper: lower hotel rates, cheaper flights into Bangkok and inexpensive transport. Phuket and Krabi cost more but have the best beaches and island tours.
How much money should I carry to Thailand?
Carry around THB 20,000 per person in cash (India's embassy in Bangkok has advised this amount for entry checks) and use a forex card for the rest. Cards are accepted at most hotels, malls and larger restaurants.
Is Indian vegetarian food easily available in Thailand?
Yes. Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket (Patong) and Krabi (Ao Nang) all have many Indian restaurants, and most Thai restaurants can make vegetarian dishes if you ask for 'jay' or 'mangsawirat'.
Is a Thailand package cheaper than DIY?
For island hopping, transfers between Phuket and Krabi, and resort stays, a package is often similar or cheaper and saves a lot of planning. For a simple Bangkok city break, DIY can be cheaper.
